Scrum for Software Development: Stop just using Scrum as an excuse….
Many of the the ideas around this agile framework come from the software development world.
Scrum is being used outside of the software development world (it’s a great way to prioritize work and get it DONE — see www.ScrumInSchool.org just one other example) and I’ve recently been reminded — from working in the real world with software development teams — that there needs to be a focus on agile engineering practices for software development teams specifically.
Scrum for Software Development is all about applying different agile techniques in software development so that we can Focus and #deliver on a consistent basis.
None of this is new.
If you are not using modern (ummm… 20+ year) agile engineering practices within your Scrum Teams, it probably totally sucks for you as a software developer in the Scrum world today.
Are you ready to stop sucking at DOING this?
If you are using Scrum for Software Development you know — or will quickly learn — that you cannot be successful just using Scrum.
You must use agile software development and engineering techniques in addition to Scrum.
You are doomed to keep doing the same crap you have been doing (but… you may be rewarded and still comfortable being micro-managed using some jacked-up version of Scrum — if ManagingScrum.com looks like your world it sucks and I know it… there are ways to improve this in your world!).
